Safety First – Please Read Before Every Use
- YUYU Bottles are made with the highest quality natural rubber from Sri Lanka, one of the world’s leading rubber producers.
- Our bottles are produced in line with British Standard BS 1970:2012, the recognised benchmark for hot water bottle safety.
- Rubber is a natural material and will slowly degrade over time, depending on use, environment, and any chemicals or metals present in the water.
- Some customers still use bottles bought more than 8 years ago, but we strongly recommend replacing your bottle after 2 years of use. For safety, YUYU Bottles are covered by a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase. Bottles can be stored for years if kept dry and out of direct sunlight, but once you start using a bottle you should keep a record of that date, review its condition regularly, and make a clear judgement on whether a replacement is needed. Please also note that once 2 years have passed from the date of purchase, the bottle is out of warranty.
- Before each use, check your bottle thoroughly. Give it a quick MOT: look for scratches, stretching, thinning, or any marks that may weaken the rubber.
- Hot water bottles can be dangerous if they leak. In the UK alone, thousands of people are treated for hot water bottle burns each year (NHS).
Important Rules
- Never use boiling water. If using a kettle, allow the water to cool well before filling. The water should never be bubbling or steaming when poured.
- If your bottle is more than 2 years old, do not use kettle water. Use only hot tap water, not exceeding 55 °C.
- Water hotter than 55 °C is hot enough to burn the skin. If used in an older bottle, you do so at your own risk.
- Always use a padded YUYU cover to prevent prolonged contact with bare skin.
- Never heat in a microwave.
- Do not sit, lie, or place weight on the bottle.
